We all have days when we wake up feeling uninspired. Its like we have to drag ourselves out of bed to get on with the day. Can you relate?
For me, this happens on days I have had interrupted sleep & am not well rested.
Oftentimes, we tend to carry on with this low energy, either not paying attention to our internal weather or simply ignoring our potential to transform it.
“If you wish to understand the universe, then think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” - Nikola Tesla
Of late I have started to pay more attention to how I am feeling & have begun experimenting with different ways to elevate my energy so I show up in the world with a lot more enthusiasm and positivity. I will share one with you today that I have started using, that’s helping me tremendously. I would love to have you try it out on your dull days.
The Practice:
On days I wake up feeling bleh, I pick up my journal to write down 3 things:
What am I grateful for right now?
What are the 2-3 things I want to accomplish today?
Word of the day
This takes me less than 5 minutes to do. And I find that it helps transform my mood, and set the right tone for the day ahead.
Relevance of these 3 questions to mood transformation:
Question 1:
“The more I understand the mind and the human experience, the more I begin to suspect there is no such thing as unhappiness; there is only ungratefulness.”
- Steve Maraboli
We feel bleh/ uninspired / dull because we are temporarily tuned off to all that's wonderful in our life.
Tuning into gratitude can be just the mindset shift we need, to feel better.
I find that once I start keying in the answer to this question, words just start pouring. Sometimes the page is full, even on a dull day.
Question 2:
Reminding ourselves of a few things to accomplish can act as a fuel to kick-start our drive to meet the day with enthusiasm, get the ball rolling & kick-ass, so to speak.
Just don't make this a laundry list of tasks. Just 1 or 2 key things.
Question 3:
Word of the day is like the key intention or overarching theme for your day's actions. You could choose from a variety of words. Here are some examples:
Accept Achieve Action Adapt Adventure Appreciate Awaken Balance Begin Believe Belong Bold Boundaries Brave Breathe Build Calm Care Create Challenge Change Commit Compassion Complete Confidence Connect Consistency Cultivate Declutter Decrease Dedicate Determination Discipline Dream Elevate Embrace Encourage Enjoy Enthusiasm Experience Explore Faith Family Finish Fitness Flourish Focus Forward Freedom Forgive Fulfill Give Grow Gratitude Hope Humble Hustle Imagine Improve Inspire Joy Kindness Laughter Lead Learn Love Mindfulness Nurture Observe Organize Passion Patience Pause Persevere Power Pray Progress Purpose Quiet Rest Reflection Relax Renew Rise Seek Solitude Simplify Surrender Teach Train Think Transform Travel Try Wellness Wisdom Wonder etc.
Your choice of word will depend on how you wish to show up that day. Everytime you catch yourself moving into the low energy zone, just recall the word you chose.
Do give this practice a shot, and let me know if it works for you.
Enjoyed the writing. For me, the inspiration of day, starts with, how to get my kids ready for school.
I was just thinking about gratitude this evening! Watching my daughter peacefully reading...my dog asleep on the couch with me...the universe. My oldest coming to visit. The omniverse. Source Love. Have you ever listened to Zac Chats with Janet and Hazel?
